Although I am obviously having some difficulties with breastfeeding, I am an ardent lactivist (and I love that word!). I’ve been following the controversy about Facebook and banning breastfeeding shots with great interest, and joined the group ‘Hey Facebook, breastfeeding is not obscene’ some time ago. After reading some posts today, like this one and this one and this, and this page, I decided to go a step further and post some of my own breastfeeding photos on there. So I posted these photos from the hour after McBean’s birth:
One even shows me breastfeeding in front of my partner and daughter, and another in front of my father and brother… oh the horror.
As well as this more recent one that I have posted here before:
And this one from today:
These are clearly not obscene, and I’m horrified by the suggestion that they are.

i haven’t posted my own pics on facebook (although i am also a member of that group) because I have work contacts on there as well. by the way…hes so freaking cute…
He is so cute and no, it’s not obscene.
Is this an American thing? Seems like it. I think if Facebook were based in the EU, there wouldn’t be any case.
Yes Travelher – FaceBook is based in California. I think you’re right about this not happening if it was based in the EU, but I’m sure it would if it was based here in Australia too!
